Amatsu

What is Amatsu?

Amatsu is a traditional healing system originating from Japan that has been constantly developed over centuries to keep up with, and meet the demands of modern living. Through the retention of basic beliefs and principles, amatsu will continue to go from strength to strength and adapt to the world in which we live, as has already been proven through the effective demonstration of modern techniques that have been incorporated in the knowledge surrounding amatsu; updating it, refining it, and ultimately keeping it fresh and relevant.

How does it work?

Amatsu works on the principle of maintaining a balance throughout an individual’s life, and the external factors which can affect it, to promote optimum health. Amatsu focuses on re-awakening the body’s ability to heal itself. Due to the aforementioned external factors, and the subjective nature of the human mind and body; treatment isn’t textbook, but rather it is specific to the individual.

On speaking of the human mind, past and present traumas locked within the body, and the physical and emotional attentions that can be attributed to these traumas are also a compromising factor of an individual’s balance. The practice of amatsu can be used to release these traumas, allowing an individual to more effectively cope with their life, and what lies on the road immediately ahead of them.

What can it treat?

Amatsu can be administered on the basis of being a relaxing treat or as a pick-me-up if an individual is feeling generally below par; it doesn’t need to be a reactive treatment. However, it can be used to alleviate any pain or stress an individual may be experiencing.

What can I expect from a treatment session?

The important thing to remember with amatsu is that it is a healing system designed to treat the individual as a whole, and not just the presenting symptoms. This means that throughout a treatment the following must be analysed, monitored, and aligned for perfect balance and harmony:

  • Physical Body
  • Energy (Ki, or Chi)
  • Nutrition
  • Mind & Emotions
  • Environment

The imbalance of any of the above can have a domino effect on all the others.

Treatment commences with an initial assessment of a client’s current body-state, followed then by the stimulation of various points over the surface of the body to manipulate the body’s energy system into a perfect balance. Motion tests are used to check the bodily structure and the function of each organ. Then, through gentle manipulation of each limb, balance may be restored to the individual. Other techniques may also be incorporated, but the aforementioned techniques are the basics which should feature in any treatment session, which typically takes about 30 minutes.
