Hellerwork
What is Hellerwork?
In the late 1970’s, a man named Joseph Heller developed a treatment known as Hellerwork that stresses the inseparable connection of the mind and body.
How does it work?
The basic principle of Hellerwork is that through a combination of movement education as well as muscle and connective tissue therapy, recipients will learn to live more comfortably within their bodies, and have any chronic pains that they may be experiencing alleviated.
What can I expect from a treatment session?
A Hellerwork course runs for 11 sessions, and each session will feature an hour for bodywork and a further half an hour allocated for movement education, which is explained in further detail below:
Movement education takes place in the form of instructions on how to do certain exercises aimed at easing everyday body movement through enhancing fluidity, which in turn assists the recipient in developing a deeper sense of awareness which better helps an individual understand the expressions of their body in the world.
Emotional counselling may also be combined during a session, along with deep tissue massage techniques to rout out pain and tension within the body. The application of deep tissue massage techniques allows a recipient’s body to realise structural balance and systematically release, and reorganise muscle and connective tissue.
